Zip & Archieve tools that you require daily and occassionally are at this place ...
Compress, extract, password protect, split, merge, and repair ZIP archives entirely on your machine. Pure WebAssembly and Web Crypto primitives.
Compress ZIP
Compress files and folders into an optimized ZIP archive with custom levels (Store, Fast, Balanced, Maximum).
Extract ZIP
Inspect archive tree hierarchies, search files, preview images/text/PDFs, and extract individual files or all.
Password Protect ZIP
Encrypt ZIP archives with military-grade AES-256 or universal legacy ZipCrypto with real-time password strength testing.
Unlock ZIP
Open password-protected ZIP archives, verify passwords client-side, preview contents, and export clean unencrypted ZIPs.
Split ZIP
Split large ZIP archives into smaller volume slices (10MB, 25MB Gmail limit, 100MB) with SHA-256 manifests and terminal reassembly scripts.
Merge ZIP
Combine multiple independent ZIP files into a single unified archive, or rejoin split volume slices (.part1/.part2) with conflict resolution.
Recover Repairable Files (ZIP Repair)
Scan corrupted or truncated ZIP archives, carve local Deflate streams, verify CRCs, and rebuild clean archives.
Image to ZIP
Batch convert, resize, rename, and package multiple image formats (PNG, JPG, WebP, SVG) into a neat ZIP archive.
PDF to ZIP
Organize and bundle multiple PDF documents into an optimized ZIP, or extract individual pages as separated PDFs and images.
RAR to ZIP
Decompress RAR4 and RAR5 archives directly in your browser using WebAssembly and repack into universal standard ZIP format.
ZIP Compression Calculator
Interactive archive sizer, storage reduction estimator, split volume calculator, bandwidth transfer speed benchmarks, and live file tester.
Why in-browser ZIP processing is safer
0 Bytes Uploaded
When uploading archives to cloud converters, your documents land on untrusted servers. pdfriend runs entirely inside your browser sandbox.
Dual-Mode Encryption
Default hardware-accelerated AES-256 via the Web Cryptography API for true military-grade privacy, plus optional legacy ZipCrypto for older Windows systems.
In-Browser Integrity Tests
Every newly created archive is reopened in memory, validated across CRC32 checksums, and issued a verified SHA-256 hash before download.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does in-browser ZIP compression work without uploading files?
We use WebAssembly and JavaScript implementations of the Deflate algorithm (JSZip) that compile directly to your CPU. Your browser executes the mathematical compression logic locally on your machine.
What is the difference between AES-256 and ZipCrypto encryption?
AES-256 is the modern standard for archive security, supported by 7-Zip, WinRAR, macOS, and modern Linux. ZipCrypto is an older legacy standard from 1989 that opens in older Windows Explorer shells without third-party apps, but is vulnerable to known cryptanalytic attacks.
Can corrupted or truncated ZIP files always be recovered?
Our repair engine scans the binary buffer for valid local file headers and attempts stream decompression with CRC validation. It can recover files when the Central Directory is corrupted or truncated, but overwritten or missing compressed data chunks cannot be reconstructed.
Are split ZIP archives supported on all platforms?
Yes! Our Split ZIP tool generates standard multi-part archives and provides one-click copy-paste reassembly scripts for Windows PowerShell, CMD, and macOS/Linux Terminal.
